ConscienceFirst supports public-witness projects rooted in moral clarity, careful sourcing, and a refusal to let language be bent to cover what conscience condemns.
We are new. We are small. We are not owed your trust — only willing to earn it, one careful word at a time.
"We must obey God rather than human beings." — Acts 5:29
ConscienceFirst is an independent advocacy project launched in 2026 to develop and support witness campaigns — public-interest efforts that document, in a sourced and non-partisan way, moments when those in power invoke moral or religious authority to justify what that authority in fact condemns. We operate as a registered trade name of a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization.
We are not a political party, a PAC, or a denominational body. We have no endorsement list, no candidate, and no donors to please. Our commitments are to accuracy, to citation, to restraint in tone, and to the conviction that conscience is not the property of any movement.
Our work draws on longstanding ethical and religious traditions — Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and secular humanist alike — that hold individual moral witness to be both a right and, at times, a duty. We do not claim to speak for those traditions. We try to speak in a way that does not embarrass them.
ConscienceFirst is a registered trade name (DBA) of a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. We have chosen not to publish the name of the parent entity on this site at this time, for reasons consistent with the note below on anonymity. The DBA registration is, as required by law, a matter of public record.
The individuals behind this work have chosen not to publish their names at this time. This is a deliberate and considered decision, made in light of the nature of the campaigns this project supports and the environment in which criticism of powerful figures is presently conducted.
We recognize this is an asymmetry. Visitors here are asked to consider the work on its merits — the sourcing, the reasoning, the quoted voices — rather than on the identities of those who curate it. If and when it becomes appropriate to put names to this work, we will.
As a 501(c)(4) organization, ConscienceFirst is permitted to engage in issue advocacy and a limited amount of political activity consistent with its social welfare mission. Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. We do not solicit donations through this site.
ConscienceFirst currently supports one active project. We anticipate others, but we will not list them here until they exist.
A sourced, ongoing record of public responses — from Christian leaders across traditions, from political figures across parties, and from interfaith voices — to the use of sacred imagery and religious language in the service of contemporary political power. The project documents what those voices have said, with citations, and lets readers weigh the evidence themselves.
Additional initiatives, if and when they are undertaken, will be listed here. We do not announce work we have not yet begun.
If you are a journalist with a question, a faith leader with a voice you'd like considered, a researcher with a correction, or simply a reader with something to say — we'd like to hear from you.
Thank you. Your message has been received. We read everything that comes in, and reply when we are able.
We acknowledge the asymmetry of asking for your name and email while offering none of ours. Share only what you're comfortable sharing — email alone is sufficient.
